I’ve heard of people using the R41 as a daily driver and generally have found the notion of it being too aggressive overhyped. With proper angle and technique it does deliver a very efficient shave.

The past few days I needed to switch things up and go

to the reliably smooth Hone Type 15 after a couple rough shaves.

As always the Blackbird delivers a close and efficient shave. Unlike the Timeless and Karve (which both are pretty forgiving when trying to find the angle) the Blackbird I have to find that sweet spot holding it roughly at 30 degrees. Once you do that this becomes one of the smoothest shavers on the market hands down. Owning both the safety bar and open comb stainless steel versions I found that I like the comfort of the safety bar over the open comb. 

As always I rave about this soap base and it’s performance.
