Shave of the Day: Sunday July 28, 2019
Razor: Blackland Blackbird (black oxide)
Blade: Polsilver (4th use)
Brush: Turn-N-Shave “Serpent”
Soap: Barrister & Mann Terror
Aftershave: Barrister & Mann Terror
The is my first go with a synthetic menthol product. No where near as harsh as some of the heavily mentholated soaps I’ve used in the past with a subtle cooling feeling that is longer lasting. Appropriately inspired by the 1848 wreck of the HMS Terror in the Arctic, scent notes are frankincense, peppermint and aquatic notes with the peppermint being the most prominent from the initial whiff off the puck. It comes off clean and not too complex and I would imagine it won’t be polarizing as some of B&M’s scents have been in the past.

Razor: RazoRock Game Changer .84
Blade: Personna Red (1st use)
Brush: Barburys Synthetic Brush
Soap: RazoRock Zi' Peppino
Aftershave: RazoRock Zi' Peppino
A friend was kind enough to surprise me with the Game Changer with the .84 gap as a gift. I decided break out my favorite RazoRock soap/splash combo to use it this afternoon.

Shave of the Day: Tuesday July 16, 2019
Razor: Windsor
Blade: Voskhod (1st use)
Brush: Turn-N-Shave “Serpent”
Cream: Baume.be
Aftershave Balm: Baume.be
Revisiting the Windsor. Made in England with a CNC machined 316 stainless steel handle and an open comb slant aluminum head. By simply looking at it one would assume it’s fairly aggressive by its pronounced blade exposure when in actuality the gap itself is minimal resulting in a mild, smooth and somewhat efficient shaver. Aesthetically this is a beautiful piece, the head and handle integrate with one another not only in the style of the design but the matte finish quite nicely. The head makes it easy to find the angle but feels different on the face compared to most DE’s.
End result: Beautiful razor, adequate performer. If you like heavy handles this might be for you.

Shave of the Day: Saturday July 13, 2019
Razor: Karve C Plate
Blade: Astra Blue (2nd use)
Brush: Frank Shaving Silvertip
Soap: Stirling Noir
Aftershave: Stirling Noir
Fragrance: Drakkar Noir
“ I do believe the secret behind this fragrance is the emotion of its construction as well as the power feeling that it evokes. It’s still very modern nowadays due to its timeless contrasting and its sensual masculine power.” -Pierre Wargnye, perfumer; creator of Drakkar Noir

Shave of the Day: Friday July 5, 2019
Razor: Hone Type 15
Blade: Personna Blue (2nd use)
Bowl: Jay’s Clay
Brush: Maggard Synthetic
Soap: Lakewood Soap Teakwood
Aftershave Balm: Floïd
Coming from the Netherlands this razor is fully machined from brass and is on the mild
end of the spectrum. It has been compared to the Feather AS-D2 in terms of efficiency. It tends to put more rough blades in check for a more smooth experience. It is an ideal daily driver or for those with sensitive skin.
This Lakewood soap is a straight up Teakwood scent and paired quite nicely with the amber notes of the Floïd balm, although the balm is fairly light on the fragrance and could be paired with about anything. Lakewood’s tallow base has been well received by users and rightfully so. I personally recommend the annual fall sampler.

Shave of the Day: Wednesday July 3, 2019
Razor: Karve Shaving C plate
Blade: Astra “Blue” Superior Stainless (5th use)
Brush: Omega Boar Hair
Cream: Palmolive Lemon
Aftershave Balm: Nivea Cooling
I was impressed with the longevity of the Astra blades and it remained really smooth all the way up until the 5th use.
The cream is fresh lemon scent and did produce a very dense lather but overall is on par with other budget creams such as Proraso. I see people raving about the Palmolive shave sticks but I suspect that might be more scarcity principle more than anything since they have ceased production.
